Elite Porcelain Veneers |
Porcelain veneers are very thin pieces of porcelain tube that are
made in a professional dental laboratory by crafted ceramists and dental
laboratory technicians. They are bonded onto the front of the teeth to
create a beautiful and attractive smile. Veneers can completely reshape
your teeth and smile. They are often alternatives to full crowns and an
ideal solution to treat many dental conditions including misaligned
teeth.
As with most dental restorations, veneers are not permanent and will
some day have to be replaced but they are very durable and will last for
many, many years, giving you a beautiful long-lasting smile.
REASONS FOR PORCELAIN VENEERS:
- Cosmetically to create a uniform white smile
- Crooked teeth
- Misshapen teeth.
- Severely discolored or stained teeth
- Teeth that are too large or too small
- Unwanted or uneven spaces
- Worn or chipped teeth
WHAT DOES GETTING PORCELAIN VENEERS INVOLVE?
Getting veneers usually requires two visits to complete the process
with little or no anesthetic involved during the procedure. The teeth
are prepared by lightly buffing and shaping the surface to allow
thickness of a porcelain veneer and a mold or impression of the teeth is
taken and a shade or color match will then be taken by the patient and
the dentist to arrive at what each feels is the best shade selection of
color. With newer techniques it is even possible to have some veneers
placed without any reduction or recontouring of existing teeth.
Sometimes it is necessary to call in the ceramic and laboratory
technician to verify color and hue of the porcelain veneers to match
what the patient desires and what can be achieved in the laboratory.
On the second visit the teeth will be cleaned with a special liquid to
achieve a durable and long-lasting bond. Cement is then placed between
the tooth and the veneer and a special light beam is used to harden and
secure the bond. Now days this light is a low level laser in our office.
At this visit you will also receive care and instructions for veneers.
Brushing, flossing, and regular dental visits, will extend the life and
beauty of your new veneers.
